On 6 November, the Institut français du Danemark and the French Embassy will open the doors of the Thoth Palace, a gem of 17th-century Baroque architecture, to The Baroque Society for the concert ‘Sans Frayeur’ (‘Without Fear’).
The Baroque Society presents an entirely French repertoire - a tribute to the strong women of the Baroque. Poetic (and completely unknown!) love songs by Helene-Louise Demars and Mademoiselle Menetou are woven into masterpieces by Rameau and Cassanéa de Mondonville. A very special sound universe with music for the soul and the deepest longings.
The Baroque Society is Copenhagen's new baroque band - a charismatic ensemble that will make classical concert experiences relevant to new generations. Together they combine the virtuosity and elegance of Baroque music with improvisation and visionary programming. Because what if some of the most beautiful music there is has yet to be discovered?
Institut français du Danemark offers a glass of wine after the concert.
Performers:
- Christina af Klinteberg Herresthal, mezzo-soprano
- Jesenka Balic Zunic, baroque violin
- Adam Grauman, viola da gamba
- Yngvild Haaland Ruud, harpsichord & artistic direction
