Blåtand Programme 2027

The French Institute in Denmark – Institut français du Danemark – opens its scientific mobility grant programme (France - Kingdom of Denmark) for 2027. 

Objectives 

Blåtand is a mobility programme for researchers affiliated to French Institutions interested in finding collaborators in the Kingdom of Denmark. The programme is funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and aims to :

• Strengthen research collaboration between France and the Kingdom of Denmark ;
• Promote new collaborations and student mobility ; 
• Support French researchers to expand their international network ; 
• Strengthen young researchers' mobility. 

The purpose of the Blåtand programme is not to support an already established collaboration, but to identify and meet new contacts. In their application, applicants must present the relevant researchers affiliated to institutions and research laboratories of the Kingdom of Denmark they wish to visit for future collaboration opportunities.

The French research mobility programme Blåtand offers the opportunity to apply for funding for a visit to the Kingdom of Denmark to strengthen research collaboration in 2027.

Eligibility criteria

In 2027, the main priority will be given to projects in the following research areas:

• Mathematics and digital science (AI, quantum computing, etc.)
• Environmental science, energy transition
• Space science
• Life science
• Polar and Arctic science

These fields of research are not exclusive, candidates can still apply for funding in other research areas (including humanities and social sciences, history, linguistics, geography, economics). A project including academic exchanges and/or public outreach would be considered a plus. 

Grant

This programme is fully funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. The grant cannot exceed 1500 euros. The selected researchers will be invited to visit the Kingdom of Denmark or France in 2027. The grant covers only travel and accommodation expenses of the researcher(s). The first instalment of 50% is paid upon signing of the agreement, and the remaining 50% instalment once the report is received.

Application form

Applications, which must be written in French or English, must include the following: 

• The applicant’s CV in French or English with publications ;
• A motivated application in French or English (max. 2-4 pages): a brief summary of the research project, motivation and purpose of this international collaboration, relevant public or private research institutions identified by the applicant in the Kingdom of Denmark, planned calendar of stay. It is possible to submit an application to meet only one institution in the Kingdom of Denmark or France, but applications with multiple contacts are highly encouraged ;

• Any other relevant documents.

IFD SCIENCE Programme 2027

Objectives

The objective of the programme is to enhance research collaboration between universities and research institutions in the Kingdom of Denmark and France. 

IFD Sciences is a continuation of the Blåtand programme: it is intended to support and strengthen an already existing collaboration.

Eligibility criteria 

In 2027, the main priority will be given to projects in the following research areas:

• Mathematics and digital science (AI, quantum computing, etc.)
• Environmental science, energy transition
• Space science
• Life science
• Polar and Arctic science

These fields of research are not exclusive, candidates can still apply for funding in other research areas (including humanities and social sciences, history, linguistics, geography, economics). A project including academic exchanges and/or public outreach would be considered a plus. 

The French research mobility programme IFD Sciences offers the opportunity to apply for funding for a visit to Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland to strengthen research collaboration (keeping in mind that the IFD Sciences grant will only partially cover the costs). 

Grant

The programme is funded exclusively by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. The grant cannot exceed €3,000 and cannot represent more than 50% of the total budget (the remaining expenses must be funded by another partner). The programme provides support for travel expenses and accommodation, as well as expenses related to the organisation of workshops and conferences. The first instalment of 50% is paid upon signing of the agreement, and the remaining 50% instalment once the report is received.
