Applications for the 4th edition of the "European Young Reporters of Hope Prize" (Le Prix Européen Jeunes Reporters d’Espoirs) are open until November 30 2024. The prize: support, training and €10,000 to be shared between 6 young people under the age of 30.
The prize has since its creation attracted more than 410 applications from 25 European countries and has reached over 200,000 European citizens thanks to 50 network partners. Based on this success, the pioneering association of ‘solution journalism’, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2024, is launching its 4th edition, with the loyal support of the Fondation du Crédit Mutuel pour la lecture.
The association encourages young people to become involved in the news, to practise writing in French, and to spread knowledge of constructive initiatives across Europe.
Applications for the prize are open to anyone under the age of 30, regardless their background or studies, who produces a report written in French that:
- has a maximum length of 10 pages (15,000 characters)
- meets the criteria of solution journalism (see methodology). In short: facing an analyzed social problem, what concrete responses are provided, how these responses have been put in place, with which results and limits?
- has a strong European dimension, through, for example: analysis of one or more initiatives taking place in one or more European countries; explanation of a challenge that the European continent is facing; analysis of an initiative which exists thanks to the cooperation of several European countries, structures or populations....
- has been produced on the occasion of the prize, or published after September 1st 2023.
10,000 euros in prize money
Reporters d'Espoirs offers each candidate the opportunity to receive advice on choosing an angle and writing their report, as well as training in solution-based journalism.
The winners will share a prize of €10,000 and will be invited to Paris to meet journalists, leading reporters and key figures in Europe.
Applications are open until November 30 2024.
