Søleils Blancs - Piano concert by Jean-Baptiste Doulcet

Den Franske Ambassade
16.09.24 / 4.30pm

Institut Français du Danemark is proud to present a unique piano concert by French pianist, Jean-Baptiste Doulcet, at the French Embassy in Copenhagen. The concert follows the release of his third cd, Søleils Blancs, on August 30, featuring Scandinavian composers.

Music of light and landscape, the works by Grieg, Nielsen and Sibelius that make up this album were brought together by Jean-Baptiste Doulcet after years of travelling and studying in Northern Europe. The lingering glimmer of the Far North is at work in the lively music of Scandinavian and Finnish composers. All three have long been regarded as great masters by French composers such as Ravel, who paid an immense respect to their profound and virtuous music. A repertoire of extraordinary profusion, concealing a thousand marvels, often miniature, and too little performed in France.

Besides the Scandinavian ones, Doulcet will also perform pieces of the French composers Ravel and Fauré as well as one of his own pieces:

  • C. Nielsen : 3 klaverstykker op.59 (11’)
  • M. Ravel : Sonatine (11’)
  • J. Sibelius : The Trees, op.75 (11’)
  • C. Nielsen : Drømmen om "Glade Jul" (2’)
  • G. Fauré : Nocturne en Mi bémol mineur op.33 n°1 (8’)
  • E. Grieg : Holberg Suite (18’)
  • JB Doulcet : Improvisation on a danish theme (8’)

Institut français offers a glass of wine after the concert.
