L'Impératrice

French pop and disco band L'Impératrice was formed in Paris in 2012. Since then, this sextet has been setting dance floors alight with its catchy French-language melodies. Keyboardist Charles de Boisseguin founded the group, driven by a desire to rediscover organic, disco-tinged sounds and grooves at a time when the Paris music scene was largely dominated by electro.

Drummer Tom Daveau and bassist David Gaugué form the basis of a powerful, captivating groove. Accompanied by two keyboardists and a guitarist, they create spellbinding melodies on vintage equipment. L'Impératrice gained notoriety with their third EP, ‘Odysssée’, released in 2015, marked by the arrival of talented jazz singer Flore Benguigui. Since then, the group has toured extensively, notably in Denmark.

Most recently, they performed at the Heartland on the island of Funen this year, where Poplish awarded them a 5/6 star review: ‘This six-piece band, always on the move and changing instruments as the concert progressed, provided a memorable evening on Friday. Well-dressed in their baby blue uniforms, everything was perfectly orchestrated.’
