Françoise Gilot or "the woman who says no", Picasso's companion.

Françoise Gilot, painter and writer, Picasso's companion for nearly 10 years, whom he nicknamed "the woman who says no".  Independent and strong-willed, she developed a singular body of work. After deciding to separate from Picasso, she put an ocean between them and moved to the United States, where she died in 2023. Her works can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

In 1964, Françoise Gilot published "Vivre avec Picasso" (Living with Picasso), a book that met with immense success. Translated into 16 languages, it sold over a million copies. Picasso tried to have it banned in France.
