W.O.M.B. (Worth of My Body) by Julienne Doko

W.O.M.B. (Worth of My Body) is a choreographic work that tackles the issues of pregnancy, motherhood and body image, which can be both painful and liberating.

Becoming a mother entails many changes: the relation to one's body, time and material things, the sense of identity and legacy. W.O.M.B is about conception, continuity and circularity. The piece explores the female creative power and its manifestation through movement. It also brings forth the notion of acceptance: accepting the responsibility, the pain, the change, the inner and outer transformation.

W.O.M.B is a dance trio of mothers, embracing their challenges and showing their vulnerability as well as their strength. The piece sets out to give visibility to the body marked by pregnancy in all its aspects.

The performance is supported by: The Danish Arts Foundation, The Bikuben Foundation and Connexions

The work was developed in residencies at HAUT, Teater Zeppelin, Åben Dans og Teater Momentum.
