Women Designing the Future

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, EUNIC Denmark and the Danish Art Workshops present three panel discussions with renowned female designers from ten European countries.

Our guests will discuss the importance and potential of women in the current design scene, reflect key principles and goals of their work and examine environmental and social challenges facing designers today. The panel discussions will be moderated by Moussa Mchangama, co-founder and senior advisor of In futurum, a strategic consultancy centred around circular economy, holistic sustainability, social justice and diversity, equity and inclusion.

The event will be carried out in English.

Participants:

Svitlana Bevza (Ukraine) is the Founder and Creative Director of BEVZA, an independent women’s wear label that uses zero-waste technologies and recycled materials in order to contribute to sustainable production processes. Svitlana Bevza_en (ui.org.ua)

Ayzit Bostan (Germany) is the owner of an independent fashion and jewellery label as well as costume designer, visual artist and professor of textile product design at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. Ayzit Bostan

Cleopatra Coșuleț (Romania) is a jewellery designer who pursues an experimental and conceptual approach in her work and explores issues such as cultural identity. Home – Cleopatra Cosulet

Nedda El-Asmar (Belgium) works for well-known companies such as Hermès, Villeroy & Boch or Robbe & Berking and the course leader at the Jewellery Design, Gold & Silversmithing department at the PXL-MAD School of Art in Hassel. The studio — STUDIO|Nedda

Sophie Falkeis (Austria) is a multidisciplinary designer and the founder and director of The Encounters Lab – About, an interdisciplinary research platform connecting science and design.

Cristina Filipe (Portugal) is a jewellery designer, author, curator and founder as well as long-standing chairwoman of PIN / Portuguese Association for Contemporary Jewellery, Cristina Filipe – Galeria Reverso

Simona Maschi (Denmark/Italy) is a co-founder and director of the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design, which deals with topics such as transport, health and sustainable architecture from a design perspective. CIID

Gina Périer (Denmark/France) is the Co-founder and CEO of About | Lapee – The revolutionary urinal, an initiative that explores issues such as design and feminism, sustainability , and gender equality in public spaces.

Barbara Predan (Slovenia) is Associate Professor and Vice-Dean at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana; her research topics include design theory, participatory design, and gender studies | Community | CGScholar

Barbora Sura (Denmark/Czech Republic) is CEO of the activist fashion brand OUR SHIFT (ourshiftbrand.com), that uses upcycling technologies to produce ethical clothing reflecting circular principles and challenging overconsumption.

Moderator:

Moussa Mchangama is co-founder and senior advisor at In futurum, who works with cultural changes, business and strategy development, and knowledge gathering. He has a leading voice in the conversations about the role of companies and organizations in creating a more sustainable, fair and inclusive future.
