French Institute Nordic Award – 2022

The four French Institutes of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden launched the French Institute Nordic Award (FINA) in 2020. This award aims to promote cultural and scientific cooperation between France and the Nordic countries and to reward the outstanding achievements of young researchers in this field.

Topic

The topic for the year 2022 is "Oceans". Indeed, in 2021, the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences (2021-2030) began. In 2020 France created the Ministry of the Sea, demonstrating its ambition to reaffirm and promote its polar and maritime strategy. France and Denmark are two countries that resolutely turned towards the sea and carried ambitious programs for the preservation of the marine environment, the sustainable exploitation of ocean resources and concerted maritime spatial planning. Finally, from 9 to 11 February 2022, the One Ocean Summit will be held in Brest (France), at the initiative of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron. In this context, France wishes to extend its commitment to marine research and promote the work of young Nordic researchers for the oceans.
