Institut français du Danemark invites you to meet the French artist Thierry Geoffroy | Colonel in conversation with the Danish art historian Sanne Kofod Olsen at the French Embassy, on the occasion of the publication of his first full-length monograph, ‘A Propulsive Retrospective’.

Thierry Geoffroy has lived in Copenhagen since 1982 and is known for his ‘Emergency Art Formats’, especially ‘Emergency Room’, ‘Critical Run’ and ‘Biennalist’. His practice can be described as an artistic response to globalisation, showing how artists can find solutions to social and political problems and offer the individual a form of personal expression. His multifaceted work, which includes videos, tent sculptures, paintings, texts, conceptual contracts and more, has been presented at various art institutions around the world: MoMA PS1 in New York, ZKM Museum in Karlsruhe, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Palazzo Delle Art in Naples and Kunsthalle Mannheim, among others. He has also participated in major art events such as the Venice Biennale, the Liverpool Biennale, the Manifesta Biennale in Murcia, the Cairo Biennale and the Casablanca Biennale.

Sanne Kofod Olsen is currently rector of Kungl. Konsthögskolan in Stockholm. She has previously been rector of Funen Art Academy (2005-2009), director of Roskilde Museum of Contemporary Art (2009-2014) and then rector of the School of Visual Arts at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2014-2019). Since the mid-1990s, she has organized numerous exhibitions and conducted research on Danish and international contemporary art at the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University.
