Constance Debré
On January 27, 2025, at 5 PM, French writer Constance Debré will give an interview (in English) about her work at the Revolver Theater in Copenhagen.
Constance Debré was born into a family with several famous politicians, including her grandfather, former minister Michel Debré, who was instrumental in creating the constitution of the Fifth Republic. After starting a career as a lawyer, she broke away from her family and their "bourgeois" lifestyle to dedicate herself entirely to writing. Her third book, Playboy (éd. Stock), in which she formally distances herself from her family and declares her homosexuality, thrusts her into the literary spotlight. In her next two works, Love Me Tender and Nom, she reflects on her break with her family and the loss of her parental authority in an existential quest where the search for love intertwines with the search for destitution. Constance Debré is published in Danish by Vinter.
