Édouard Louis in Copenhagen
On Wednesday 12 February 2025 at 8 pm, French writer Édouard Louis will give a public interview at the Bibliotèque Royale.
Édouard Louis was born Eddy Bellegueule in 1992, and began his literary career in 2014 with ‘En finir avec Eddy Bellegueule’, a novel immediately acclaimed by critics and readers alike, in which he looks back on his own trajectory as a gay man in a marginal and ultra-poor France - culturally as well as socially and economically. Since then, he has built up a body of committed, self-fictional work around the themes of class displacement, political and social inequality and violence, drawing on his own experiences as well as the sociological knowledge he acquired while studying sociology and philosophy at two of France's leading universities, the École Normale Supérieure and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales.
Édouard Louis' visit to Denmark has been organised by the Royal Library, in association with Gyldendal publishers, as part of the publication in Danish of “Monique s'évade”.
