Finissage "Millepatte - Tusindben"

Institut français du Danemark - Rolighedsvej 37, 1958 Frederiksberg
17.01.2025 / 16.00 - 18.00

Institut français du Danemark has the pleasure of inviting you to the finissage of our current exhibition "Millepatte - Tusindben", a duo exhibition by French artists Marielle Paul and Maud Paul. The exhibition is presented in partnership with Galerie Maria Lund, Paris.

Come and meet Marielle Paul, who will briefly present her work (in English) and do not miss the opportunity to experience or revisit the exhibition in Institut français' brand new exhibition space dedicated to emerging French contemporary art in the heart of Frederiksberg.

Marielle's presentation will be followed by a cocktail offered by Institut français.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Marielle, the mother, paints in Paris while Maud, the daughter, designs furniture in Maastricht. "Tusindben - Millepatte" is their mother-daughter conversation, nourished by a shared taste for play and a common fascination for the vitality of nature: shapes and colors abound and vibrate with humor. Marielle's restless Mosaïques make their way along the wall, while Maud's Millipede sofa takes a few steps on the floor. Their palettes intersect: bright and vivid with refined tones. Marielle's is carried by the pigmented, matte gouache material, and Maud's by cozy textiles. Their two worlds, punctuated by the contours of Marielle's solid colors and the metal tubes of Maud's furniture, remain flexible, ready to mutate. The boundaries between art and design are suspended: Marielle flirts with ornament and Maud with sculpture. Mother and daughter play with fertile ambiguities, and their creations reveal how their artistic practices evolve and sometimes intersect.
