French days at the Glyptotek

Glyptoteket
23.04 - 26.04.2026

French days at the Glyptotek : A new yearly festival launched by Institut français and Glyptotek.

Institut français and Glyptotek are proud to present the first edition of the Franske dage på Glyptoteket festival, which draws on the museum’s rich collection of French works to highlight the way in which art contributed to political development and the affirmation of national identity at the turn of the 20th century. Paris, then the cultural heart of Europe, inspired the brewer Jacobsen to believe that art should be accessible to the people.

This year’s programme centres on one of the museum’s most iconic works, Gloria Victis, a real monument dedicated to defeat, hope and national narratives. Through a programme combining lectures, debates, dance, gastronomy and music, the festival offers a fresh perspective on the importance of art from a historical and societal standpoint.

Over four days, the programme offers to discover the French dance company Minuit 12, a French-style ‘silent disco’ and a classical music concert by the French Connection Academy. The full programme, much of which will be in English, will be unveiled gradually.

The festival will also be an opportunity to enjoy French delicacies from café Picnic, to be savoured in the wonderful setting of the Glyptotek’s winter garden.

23 April from 10 am to 9 pm and 24-26 April from 10 am to 5 pm
