Event in English
Constance Debré was born into a family that includes several famous politicians, among them her grandfather, former minister Michel Debré, who was instrumental in drafting the Constitution of the Fifth Republic. After beginning her career as a lawyer, she broke away from her family and her “bourgeois” lifestyle to devote herself exclusively to writing. She published her first autofictional novel, Playboy, in 2018, in which she formally distanced herself from her family and did her coming out. Following this initial success, which propelled her into the literary spotlight, she published “Love Me Tender” (2020) and “Nom” (2022), in which she revisits her break with her family background and the loss of parental authority in an existential reflection where the quest for love intertwines with that of destitution.
Constance Debré is published in Danish by Vinter. Her novel “Nom” (Navn) was released in April 2026.
