Parlons de... Louise Bourgeois
Join Philippe Puisais to discover the creative world of Louise Bourgeois, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. A French sculptor living in the United States, she believed that: "Being an artist implies a certain suffering. That's why artists repeat themselves - because they don't have access to a cure."
Her work mirrors this suffering, born of her relationship with a father she perceived as both a tyrant and a misogynist, and whom she saw as the source of her pain.
Her works, which tackle powerful themes such as motherhood, sexuality, family and memory, were born of this suffering for which she found no remedy. Her art has become a means of expression, a way of transforming her pain into a universal reflection on human inner conflicts. Philippe will show us how her personal experiences have shaped her iconic works, and how her art continues to resonate today.
The lecture will take place at the Institut français du Danemark, 37 Rolighedsvej, Frederiksberg, on Thursday December 4, 2025 at 7:30pm.
As part of our “Fransk for en hund” concept, the ticket costs DKK 100 with a glass of wine included in the price. Billetto charges are extra.
