Parlons de... Marisol
For the opening of the exhibition at Louisiana, Philippe Puisais invites us to discover Maria Sol Escobar, known in the art world as Marisol, an artist born in Paris on May 22, 1930. She was known as “the Latin Garbo” because she was beautiful and spoke very little...
Born to Venezuelan parents, Marisol enrolled at the Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1949 and moved to New York to pursue her career. Through her sculptures, she opposed the return to traditional values seen in the American public after World War II. She was a symbolic figure in the pop culture of the 60s and 70s, using raw materials, plaster, wood, drawings and photographs of modern clothing to express her rejection of the idea of a uniform existence for women.
The conference will be held at Institut français du Danemark, Rolighedsvej 37, Frederiksberg, on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 19.30.
As part of our “Fransk for en hund” concept, the ticket costs DKK 100 with a glass of wine included in the price.
The lecture will be held in easy-to-understand French.
