Talk: The Art of Shaping Cities at Nikolaj Kunsthal

Nikolaj Plads 10, 1067 Copenhagen K
09.10.2025 - 4pm to 5:30pm

How can art and urban planning create dynamic and inclusive urban spaces?
How can we ensure the dynamic development of European capitals, and what role do artists play in designing the cities of tomorrow? How can urban planning promote the creation of spaces that encourage collaboration between artists, architects, and other creatives, while contributing to positive social change and inclusive diversity?

These are some of the key questions that will be addressed during a conversation organized by the French Institute in Denmark, the Goethe-Institut, and Nikolaj Kunsthal, bringing together Alban Corbier-Labasse, director of La Friche la Belle de Mai, and Britta Peters, curator specializing in art in public spaces and artistic director of Urbane Künste Ruhr since 2018.

The conversation will be moderated by Ellen Braae, professor of landscape architecture and head of the Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning research group.

The discussion, which will be held in English, is part of the group exhibition "Copenhagen-Berlin: Open Door to the World," which features a selection of Danish visual artists who were drawn to the German capital in the years following the fall of the Berlin Wall, a period during which the city opened up as a vast testing ground and became a dynamic center for creators and new artistic movements.

Institut français du Danemark will ofer a complimentary drink during the event.

Accesss is upon registration for the cost of 50kr.
