Reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris
On December 7 and 8, 2024, Paris experienced a historic and moving moment: the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris, five years after the terrible fire that ravaged this iconic monument. This long-awaited return drew the eyes of the world to France, reminding everyone of the importance of this architectural masterpiece.
The reopening ceremony was marked by unforgettable performances. Who better than Garou, the legendary performer of Quasimodo in the musical "Notre-Dame de Paris," to capture the essence of this moment? He performed an excerpt from the musical, transporting the audience into the poignant world of Victor Hugo. Among the artists present were Clara Luciani singing "La romance de Paris" by Charles Trenet, Pharrell Williams supported by a beautiful gospel choir, and Vianney, the singer-songwriter who performed an original cover of the song "Hallelujah" in French.
A particularly moving moment was the projection of a massive "merci" on the façade of Notre-Dame, honoring the 160 firefighters who bravely faced the flames and the 2,000 companions and artisans who worked for the rebirth of this monument. This message reminded everyone of the courage, commitment, passion, and exceptional skills of all those who contributed to the preservation and reconstruction of the cathedral.
We look forward to seeing Notre-Dame illuminated once again, filled with visitors admiring its wonders, and to celebrating together this new chapter in the history of all Parisians and all French people.
