International Forfatterscene: Kamel Daoud

Den Sorte Diamant, Dronningesalen
26.11.2025
On Wednesday, November 26, at 7 p.m. at the Royal Library, French-Algerian writer Kamel Daoud will answer questions from journalist Tore Leifer about his acclaimed novel Houris.

Ten years after the publication of his novel “Meursault, contre-enquête” (Meursault, Counter-Investigation), a vibrant tribute to Albert Camus that earned him international renown, Kamel Daoud returns with ‘Houris’ to revisit the “dark years” of the Algerian civil war (1992-2002) and give a voice and a face to one of the countless victims of this fratricidal conflict.

Published in the fall of 2024 by Gallimard, Houris was awarded the Prix Goncourt, France's most prestigious literary prize.

Houris is available in Danish (Huri) from Turbine (translation: Kim Witthof).
