OPEN Architecture Festival in Aarhus is dedicated to the emerging, established and radical voices within the architectural field.
From five scenes, the programme features thematic panel talks, interviews, lectures, performances, exhibitions, and artistic interventions, all of this taking place on September 20 in the unique settings at Aarhus School of Architecture with dj's, street food and relaxed atmosphere.
This year, OPEN explores The Ocean In Which We All Swim – arranged by curator Karen Kjaergaard and co-curators, Margarida Waco and Simon Strøyer. Water is a unifying force between humanity and nature, shaping pasts, presents and futures: how can architecture adapt to water and future landscapes and how can this connection inspire the industry towards a sustainable future?
As part of the festival, l'Institut Français du Danemark is pleased to support the visit of French architect Anne Lacaton from Lacaton & Vassal, who has been working to push the boundaries of sustainable and socially responsible housing architecture for decades.
She will be taking part in the panel entitled ARCHITECTURE AS AN ACT OF KINDNESS (TBD schedule), investigating how we can dedicate future architecture practice to promoting a socio-ecological transformation of the European building stock. She will converse with Carolina Dayer, Associate Professor at the Aarhus School of Architecture.
